Course Description
The Wine Correspondent Alliance’s Certified Wine Ambassador Program – is an advanced course designed to build on your knowledge. It is based on a broad spectrum of knowledge and understanding of wine including viticulture, vinification, regional appellation laws and more. A program from Beginner to Advanced.
The Certified Wine Ambassador Program contains comprehensive sommelier, oenology, wine business & management education. Building from all sciences through their inter-related connections, you will learn about wine and all of its trappings providing you with a compact foundation in the sommelier knowledge, winemaking, wine business education, culinary and alimentary information.
The course programming is fairly compact, with no official class time required to sit for an exam. It is entirely an independent study program. It is designed to convey more wine theory, history and practical application of a wine’s qualities. You will become skillful in a broad spectrum of subjects beyond the sommelier vocation.
You will possess deep familiarity and understanding of the wine from a comprehensive range of views by the time you arrive at completion of the course. The program begins with the bare bones of wine and history, allowing those with no prior knowledge to begin their studies with a clear path and plans.
Established in 2006 the Wine Correspondent endeavor has grown into a wine associated non-profit education, research and scholarship alliance based on North American roots. Our affiliations are constantly expanding to include schools, universities, distributors, other associations and relationships throughout America as well as Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.
Whether building on an existing career in hospitality or enhancing your enjoyment of wines; the curriculum will build a wide-ranging foundation to the world of wine.
Instructor's Bio
Ralph Del Rio is the Chairman of the Board and Founder of Wine Correspondent Alliance, a comprehensive nonprofit organization that he founded as a wine society in 2006. Under Ralph’s leadership, the Wine Correspondent Alliance has become a forward-thinking in valuing of viticulture & enology and the acute need for professional development of qualified researchers, disease scientists, virologists, educators and economists; especially at the grassroots level.

Ralph serves on the advisory council for the American Wine Society and is an Officer at Good Times Tobacco, Inc. He is a member of the National Society of Accountants and aided the SERVE Organization and the Great American Teach In 2006-2014. Ralph was also named to the National Department of Labor Network in 2009 during the Obama administration.
Ralph began his career in 1991 with The Boeing Company, serving as Lead Accountant at Kennedy Space Center and later became the director of MLI Marketing Solutions. He holds a Finance and Accounting degree from Florida International University, a Master of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University and a Wine Business Executive Gradation from the UC Davis. Ralph also has a Project Management Certification from the University of Florida and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Nova Southeastern University. He is also certified with the Wine & Spirit Education Trust, Court of Master Sommeliers, Society of Wine Educators, the Federation of Dining Room Professionals and American Culinary Federation.
A world traveler, baseball enthusiast, wine writer and Certified Somm, Ralph is based in Tampa, Florida.
